Catalog Year

Catalog year determines the set of academic requirements that must be fulfilled for graduation. Generally, the Catalog year is determined at the time of admission or when a student changes their program, specialization, or track (either through a new application or through a track change request).  A degree-seeking student may choose any catalog year published during their enrollment. As degree-seeking students will be enrolled over the course of several terms, the catalogs may change. In the event of a conflict, to the extent possible, the university will make every effort to apply the appropriate catalog that protects the interest of the student. However, in the case of policy and program changes or issues of accreditation and legislative changes, the most current catalog will be applied, if necessary. Students must follow a single catalog, not a combination of catalogs, to meet graduation requirements. If a student’s current program is nationally accredited based on the catalog year, they may not change to a prior catalog year in which the program was not nationally accredited or in which the program is substantially different to meet newer accreditation requirements. Catalog year changes should not prolong students' expected graduation date.
