TTE: Transportation Engineering

Courses

TTE 3004   Transportation Engineering

College of Sci and Engineering, Department of Civil Engineer & Construct Mgt

3 sh (may not be repeated for credit)
Prerequisite: EGS 3441*

This course offers an introduction to transportation engineering, including the characteristics of transportation modes, interaction between modes, facility design consideration, planning of transportation systems, economics, public policy, implementation and management.

TTE 4804   Highway Engineering Design

College of Sci and Engineering, Department of Civil Engineer & Construct Mgt

3 sh (may not be repeated for credit)
Prerequisite: TTE 3004

This course encompasses the use of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets. This course provides a detailed coverage of the principles and techniques necessary for the design of the highway geometric elements.

TTE 4831   Pavement Engineering Design

College of Sci and Engineering, Department of Civil Engineer & Construct Mgt

3 sh (may not be repeated for credit)
Prerequisite: TTE 3004

The course studies the methods used to determine the thickness and composition of layers in both flexible and rigid pavements. Class works include various types of pavements, stress-strain behavior of pavement systems, characterization of paving materials, consideration of traffic in pavement design, performance prediction models and failure criteria, theoretically analyze and design of highway pavements with critical evaluation of current design practices. Hands-on practice sessions with AASHTO and PCA, the Asphalt Institute methods, are also provided.
