Students will explore how knowledge and methods from multiple disciplines can be combined to address complex, real-world problems. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and the intentional design of individualized academic and career pathways. Students will reflect on their academic experiences, identify key competencies, and begin building a portfolio that connects their coursework to personal, professional, and civic goals.

This course provides students the opportunity to develop a professional portfolio of AI-supported work that demonstrates mastery of appropriate AI platforms and their applications to the student's chosen professional field. Students will develop their own large project or series of linked projects integrating AI technology as one of the tools. Offered concurrently with IDS 5765. Graduate students will be assigned additional work.

The Senior Capstone for the Bachelor of General Studies is designed to encourage self-analysis of career and intellectual interests in the student’s chosen career or academic field. By way of readings, discussion, analytical exercises, writing assignments, and class presentations, students will demonstrate and practice the skills they have acquired throughout their academic careers. Students will develop a detailed project proposal and complete a final research project linking two or more academic disciplines within the student’s personalized BGS degree plan with career and intellectual interests. The final written project will consist of research, reviews, and analysis targeted toward a specified audience. A presentation of the project is required.
